Indigenes of the Uzere Community in Isoko South Local Government Area resident in Asaba, Delta State capital, have honoured one of their illustrious sons and Executive Director (Finance), in DESOPADEC, Chief Askia Ogieh, for attracting development to the town.
At a well packaged ceremony in Asaba, the people vowed to support Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as governor for second term in lieu of the opportunity he gave to Chief Ogieh to touch the lives of Uzere people and the community.
The Chairman of Uzere Kingdom in Asaba, Mr Sunny Edoge, who presented the award to the recipient on behalf of the people, said that Chief Ogieh deserved accolades for his special interest in the development of Uzere town.
Specifically, he mentioned the complete renovation of their dilapidated prestigious Uzere Grammar School to a modern status and the rehabilitation of roads that were rendered impassable as part of the benefits the community reaped through the efforts of Chief Ogieh.
Mr Edoge, who recalled that Chief Ogieh was the pioneer chairman of the community’s meeting in Asaba, posited that he had done so well to deserve their appreciation.
He said that because of Chief Ogieh, the Uzere community will support the governor so that more benefits would reach them, stressing that the awardee had always identified with them.
Receiving the Award on behalf of Chief Ogieh, his wife, Mrs Grace Askia Ogieh, and Son, Engineer Wisdom Askia, thanked the group for honouring their husband and father.
They said that the award will spur him to do more for the people who are so dear to him, even as they enjoined the people of Uzere kingdom to work for the return of Senator Okowa in 2019 as they stood to reap more developmental projects and benefits.
Highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Award plaque to the representative of Chief Ogieh.
