The 1970’s/1980’s set of students of St. Malachy’s College, Sapele, Old Boys’ Association (SMOBA), have handed over a renovated school hall to the management of the school in Sapele, Delta State.
The Honourable Commissioner for Primary Education, Hon.Chika Ossai, who was ably represented by the Chief Inspector of Education (CIE), CD Moritay at the ceremony, appreciated the old boys for remembering their Alma-mater and giving back to their foundation School.
The Principal of the school, Rev. Father Godwin Origho, thanked the SMOBA 70’s/80’s set for finding it worthy to embark on such a gigantic project and encouraged them not to relent in giving back to their school and not to forget their little beginning.
Old boys from across the country were present at the occasion and some who spoke, expressed dismay at the total neglect of the institution by the state government and called for the immediate intervention of His Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to come to their aid in revamping the citadel of learning, which has almost gone into extinction due to land grabbers.
Almost half of the School compound has been sold to politicians in the state.
The SMOBA 70’s/80’s set led by old boy Daniel Aghedo and Pastor Lucky Oki, thanked the Honourable Commissioner for Primary Education for honouring the invitation to grace the event.
Highlights of the occasion, was the unveiling and the handing over of the refurbished Assembly Hall, which cost the old boys 11.5 Million Naira.
