My attention has been drawn to a recent report from a social media Sahara reporters that I led a killer squad and attempted to murder one Mr. Sunny Okonye for destroying the billboard belonging to a serving Senator, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.
I would have ignored the said report but considering the gravity of the offence and the fact that the press briefing where the report was given was held in Royal Court yard hotel belonging to a notorious politician known for clandestine activities, I have decided to keep the record straight.
I want to state clearly that I know nothing about the shooting which I believe is the activities of cultists which some of those crying wolves are members and sponsors. This allegation is the handwork of mischief makers who have the penchant of maligning people.
The billboards in question were not directly sponsored by the accused Senator, but sponsored by a man who believes in the ambition of the Senator.
I travelled to Lagos with the Senator on Friday 16th May, 2014 at 5.00pm Arik Flight and left Lagos on Monday 19th May, 2014 to Abuja with 3 pm Arik flight. I checked into the hotel in Lagos on the said Friday and checked out on Monday.
It is no longer news that two cult groups are fighting in Agbor and the boy in question belongs to one of the groups. This should be investigated. I do not belong to any cult group, and it beats my imagination that mischief makers are bringing politics into the matter.
I attribute my ordeal to the plan and antics of a prominent politician whose hotel served as venue for the press briefing. This politician is known for his gimmicks, criminality and clandestine activities and does not want to see anything good in the Senator.
This politician, who is known for his sinister activities while serving as a House of Representative member in Abuja, is the mastermind of the whole incident.
It is an attempt to soil the name of the Senator because of the Senator’s gubernatorial ambition. The said Politician is threatened because of the acceptance and popularity of the Senator.
I am sure and I believe God that at the end of the day, with God, the truth must surely come.
My fellow Nigerians let us say no to those who do evil and rub it on innocent people.
Signed:
Hilary Ibegbulem
