The executive chairman of Aniocha North local government area of Delta state, Mr. Chuks Oseme has said despite recent dwindling resources accruing to the Council, his administration is focused in executing people oriented projects to ensure the development of the area.
Oseme made the assertion when he visited members of the Asaba Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Thursday, October 08, 2015.
The Council boss said despite his recent achievement by providing electricity to Aniocha North local government area after several years of being without power supply, he is determined to tap into various sectors of economic development to sustain the Council through useful engagement of the people and unveiling of its untapped natural resources to boost its revenue base.
Oseme mentioned that the local government presently has coal, oil and Ugboba water falls, which his administration intends to explore to boost internally generated revenue and tourism development in the area, adding that measures are already in place to make the Council stand out in keying into the development and prosperity agenda of the state Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.
While saying that Aniocha North is blessed with outstanding human resources, Oseme commended the traditional rulers, leaders, youths and women of thought who have contributed immensely towards the growth of the area, saying that his administration will not relent in consulting them in his development strategies.
On the need to promote community service and re-orientation of the youths in the area, the Council Chairman disclosed that 120 youths and over 50 widows have been engaged in several areas of human endeavours, adding that the erosion menace in Issele-Uku, the local government headquarters would soon be over as a result of effective clearng of drainages and sanitation exercises.
He however enjoined media practitioners in the state to help in promoting good governance and appealed to members of the ASABA Correspondents Chapel of the NUJ to partner with Aniocha local government Council.
In his response, Chairman of Asaba Correspondents Chapel, Comrade Paul Osuyi, who urged other local government councils in the state to emulate the Aniocha North Council boss for his global initiative, promised to collaborate with the Council in building public confidence during his administration.
