The Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Right Hon Peter Onwusanya, has described the last weekend state House of Assembly primaries by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a pointer to the unity of purpose among party members.
The speaker made the assertion shortly after he was declared the winner of the primaries election in Oshimili South Constituency, where he polled 61 votes to defeat two other contestants of Hon Emeka Okonji who scored 6 votes and Barrister Bridget Anyafulu who scored six votes.
He explained that the election was one of the beauties of democracy that allows people to choose their leaders and assured the people that he will not relent in his efforts to deliver on his electoral promises.
The lawmaker asserted that the party provided a level play ground for aspirants to test their popularity and further described the election as peaceful, free and fair and commended party members for comporting themselves peacefully throughout the election period .
He called on his opponents to join hands with him to ensure the party’s victory in the general elections that are scheduled for early next year.
Hon Onwusanya also commended the press and security agents for being partners in the democratic journey.
