Governor of oil-rich Delta state, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has congratulated the Governor-elect, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, saying that the victory at the polls has affirmed the performance and supremacy of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
In a statement issued in Asaba yesterday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Sunny Ogefere, the Governor said that the success of the PDP was “a total victory for all Deltans”. While thanking Deltans for their peaceful conduct during and after the elections, Governor Uduaghan assured that development strides in the state under Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa will be rapid, peaceful and progressive. Also, the Delta state PDP Chairman, Chief Edwin Uzor said that the resounding victory of the party at the April 11 polls was a testimony of the focussed leadership, peace initiative and development spread of democracy dividends by Governor Uduaghan’s administration.
He described the governor-elect Okowa as a detribalised Deltan, whose unwavering love for all Deltans has earned him the victory, adding that the party has once more proved its firm grip and political spread across the state. “This election victory clearly shows that PDP has performed exceedingly well in the state for the past 16 years. The party and the government have been carrying the people along and that is why the electorate voted massively for virtually all the candidates fielded by the party.” Chief Uzor, however dismissed claims by opposition parties that there were irregularities during the elections, saying that the European Union (EU) observers who monitored the election in the state have commended the PDP’s maturity and display of fairness during the exercise. He described the opposition’s claim as “foul cry of a drowning man” but advised them to sheath their swords and join hands with the incoming government to build on the legacy of the Uduaghan administration and move the state forward. A PDP stalwart in Oshimili North local government of Delta state, Owelle Ike Nwabuoku, described the election victory as proof of hardwork by members of the party and dedication of the people to effective and sustainable leadership. He assured the people of Oshimili North, Delta Norh and entire Delta state to expect greater spread of democracy dividends, saying that the victory of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as Governor-elect, Barr. Peter Nwaoboshi as Senator-elect for Delta North Senatorial District and other PDP candidates across the state is victory for transformation beyond bounds. ***Read Blank NEWS Online for regular news updates…Also like us on Facebook & follow us on Twitter
