WITH the emergence of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), members of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ndokwa West local government area of the state, led by a former House of Assembly candidate of ACN Odanike Azuka Justice has decamped to the PDP.
According to him, his defection was to fully support Senator Okowa who is the only candidate from Delta North contesting for the governorship position of Delta State.
“I urge every Ndokwa and Delta North person to call APC people to order, they should respect the principles of equity and justice,” he said, adding, “it is clear that the Ndokwa and by extension Delta North governorship quest is most popular and widely and overwhelmingly supported within and outside Delta State.”
Also, Ndokwa National Youth Vanguard (NNYV) at the occasion described the emergence of Senator Okowa was a dream come true.
According to the National President of NNYV and Secretary, Hon. Ozegbe Adoh and Nwabueze Mbanugo respectively, “we are celebrating the first man in Delta North to fly the flag of the winning and the biggest party in Africa, PDP, his achievements and empowerment in different offices he has occupied is a clear testament of the new Delta State.”
The group observed that the defection of Odanike and his followers was a good omen for the victory of the PDP.
Chairman of the PDP in the area, Hon. Dan Ossai, Chief Theophilus Adoh, Ward 1 Chairman, Dr Iwegbue, Chief Nduku who is a former leader of APC in the area, Hon. Azuka Azaka, member representing Ndokwa West Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, among others who spoke at the occasion welcomed the decampees and assured them that the PDP was large enough to accomodate everybody.
