The Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of DESOPADEC, Bashorun Dr. Askia Ogieh, the chairman of Udu local government area, Hon Chief Jite Brown, the commissioner for special duties Delta State, Hon. Henry Sakpra and president of Isoko Development Union, High Chief Iduh Amadhe, have officially unveiled the Nigeria Institute for Political Leadership Administration and Control.
The event which held at Builders Villa (the land of fame), builders villa Drive Igbiki layout, Ovwain Udu local government area, featured the introduction of five textbooks, keynote addresses, commentaries, day declaration and award ceremony.
While unveiling the institution’s mandate and five academic textbooks by the author and chancellor of the institution, Archbishop Professor Akpode A. Joshua, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, represented by DESOPADEC commissioner representing Urhobo ethnic nationally, Olorogun Ogheneruemu Vincent Oyibo, commended Akpode Joshua for the vision of a noble institute and described him as a political activist.
The governor said, “I am overwhelmed with what I saw here today because we have gained knowledge that will enhance development”. Okowa promised to support the chancellor of the institute even as he urge him to be focused as writing a book to encourage voters is vital towards political emancipation of the society. Governor Okowa maintained that educating the grass root on government policies and programmes by the chancellor as mission statement is commendable.
Speaking on the theme, “Modalities for a deepened, highly accelerated and sustainable political wealth spread and the expansion of the function of traditional rulers in our democracy, in the face of highly impoverished silenced, hungry, angry and inpatient Nigerian population yearning for revolution, the chancellor and Chief host Archbishop professor Akpode Joshua, urged traditional rulers to become developmental machines as they knows the people terrains.
He posited that traditional rulers command unusual spiritual divine political and economic graces as they are the custodian of our lands.
He noted that, to move Nigeria forward astronomically and for political wealth spread deeper with high acceleration in the face of extreme poverty, the functions of traditional rulers must be expanded.
Akpode urged traditional rulers to come up with blueprint signed by political aspirants for their domains development, adding that major constituency’ projects that affects communities should be handled by the traditional rulers.
The chancellor who has written several books said, only two of the books on “Chief James Ononefe Ibori, Understanding his political mandate”, and “Qualifications for Peoples’ Political Mandate, Educating the Voters and the voted” are ready. He noted that other three books are hanging in the press and will soon be released.
The author and chancellor of the institution stated that, the materials in the book “Qualification for the Peoples’ Political mandate”, will be used very soon to begin his massive enlightened political mandate campaign all through the 25 local governments of Delta State, as preparatory for 2023 elections. He added that he will be working with all political parties’ leaders, members and all stakeholders in the enlightenment campaign.
While delivering a keynote address, the Odiologbo of Oyede kingdom, HRM Idiareh Jonathan Kokimoni says, the Nigerian institute for political leadership administration and control proposes ways of reshaping the growing political economy towards redefining ways of managing the environment and obtain evenly spread of resources and development.
The monarch sued for transparency, selflessness, commitment, people oriented governance and avoid tribalism, nepotism and selfishness, noting that the institute is a political change – wheel and rebirth of a new Nigeria where no man will be oppressed.
He charged traditional rulers to act as custodian of tradition, cultural and political heritage of the people and shun power buyers, electoral figure – falsifiers and the winner – takes – all syndromes.
In attendance was Bashorun Dr. Askia Ogieh, MD/ C.E.O DESOPADEC, represented by Barrister Shewor Edema, Hon. Henry Sakpra, commissioner for special duties Delta State, represented by Hon. Tony Sakpra, gallery of traditional rulers from Emevor, Agbara, Oyede and Ujewe kingdoms respectively.
Others are the chairman of Ughelli North local government area, represented by Hon. Ibedaro Rufus, Niger Delta University, represented by Professor Bernard Owumi, Delta State School of health and technology Ufuoma, represented by Mrs. Igbimi Justina, the president of Isoko Development Union, High Chief Iduh Amadhe, represented by the vice president Engr, Anakpoha Clifford amongst others.
