The rejuvenation of the SERVICOM Initiative Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, was taken to Delta State University, Abraka on Wednesday with a call for a paradigm shift in attitude in the provision of services to the public and students. Represented by Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, the Governor’s Senior Policy Adviser, whose office is spearheading the reinstitutionalisation of the SERVICOM initiative, he said under the MORE Agenda of his administration, the key objectives are to enhance the provision of the dividends of democracy through the adoption of the virtues of transparency, fairness and accountability. Addressing the university’s management led by Professor Andy Ogorchukwu Egwuyenga, Oborevwori said given the challenges facing the country, it is imperative to effect a fundamental change in the management of limited resources and service delivery to the people. As the premier institution among the four universities owned by the Delta State Government, the Governor said Delta State University, Abraka should lead the drive for excellence in the education sector, adding that in research and administration, timeliness and accountability are indispensable. He urged the management to compile the challenges impeding quality service delivery, promising that such will be addressed within the limits of available resources. Responding on the university’s management, Prof. Egwuyenga pledged to partner with the government in effecting a change in attitude among public officers. “We are committing to the success of His Excellency’s MORE Agenda and this relaunch of SERVICOM will permeate across all the levels of the university’s administration”, the Vice Chancellor said. The relaunch of the initiative was later conducted at Ukwuani Local Government Area with Head of Personnel Management, Mr. John Akwakwa, leading the council’s management team at the ceremony at Obiarukwu.
