Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has been conferred with the award of the Most Outstanding Governor in Human Capital Development in Nigeria by the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), Delta State Council.
The governor who was presented with the award by the Chairman of the Chapel, Mr. Paul Osuyi expressed appreciation that journalists in the state acknowledged the developmental strides of his administration especially the human capital development initiative and gave the assurance that his successor would improve on these development.
The governor explained that Human Capital Development was very key to every administration stressing that the bottom line of every government was to affect the lives of the people positively.
“I am really humbled by this award, I want to thank you for acknowledging most of the developments achieved by the State Government especially in human capital because the bottom line of every government is to affect the lives of the people positively”, the governor said adding: “When journalists appreciate your efforts then it is genuine appreciation”.
Dr. Uduaghan who charged the members of NUJ to remain united in the interest of the union saying: “It is gratifying to note that NUJ in the state is united and stable, I am happy that as I am leaving office, NUJ is united and indivisible as against what it was years back. If you are united, you can achieve a lot but if you are divided you lose a lot, NUJ lost a lot when it was divided”.
While thanking them for their support over the year, Governor Uduaghan stated that his government would not have achieved a lot without their support of journalists in the state as whatever they write affect government positively or negatively. “I urge you to extend the same support to my successor in the overall interest of the state”, he added.
In his remarks before presenting the Governor with the award, Mr Osuyi enumerated the numerous achievements of the Uduaghan‘s administration particularly in the area of human capital development noting that it was worthy of emulation by other state governments.
ln a brief address, the State Commissioner Of Information, Barrister Chike Ogeah said that the award was to show appreciation to the governor for his administration’s achievement in his human capital development agenda.
