Governors of the North East have directed Attorney Generals of the region to design modalities of improving security within the region.
This was part of the resolutions reached at the end of first North East Governors Consultative Meeting held in Gombe.
At the end of the meeting, a communique was issued and read by Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
The communique said the effort is to address cross border criminal activities.
It explained that the move would improve collaborative understanding within security agencies.
The communique expressed it’s satisfaction with Federal Government effort to improve the living standards of people of the North East by establishing North East Development Commission.
The governors also agree to look into possibility of regional power generation and to examine the ownership of electricity distribution companies.
The governors have also agreed to examine the agricultural potentials of the region and to conduct baseline studies with a view to improve agricultural value chain to address food security in the region and the country at large.
The governors agreed to meet on quarterly basis and the next meeting will hold at Borno State on 15 April this year.
