Governor Emmanuel of Delta State, on Tuesday visited the Awolowo family home in Ikenne, Ogun State to condole the family over the death of their son and publisher of Tribune Newspapers, Mr. Oluwole Awolowo.
The Governor was received on arrival by the daughters of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Chief Hannah Awolowo and Dr Tokunbo Awolowo-Dosunmu.
A former Governor of Delta State, Olorogun Felix Ibru and the Governor of Osun State, Mr. Rauf Aregbosola were also on hand to receive Dr Uduaghan who led a prayer session for God to put to an end further death in the family as well as grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
In particular, he prayed that God Almighty should strengthen the matriarch of the family, Chief H. I. D. Awolowo and enable her to overcome the present challenges.
Governor Uduaghan while describing the death of the 70 years old publisher a a great loss to the country and the Awolowo family in particular, recalled his last encounter with late Oluwole where he said the publisher spoke passionately about the unity and development of Nigeria.
The Governor stressed that the lessons of generous giving and service to humanity underlined the life of late Oluwole just as his late father left behind the legacy of educational development which he personally benefited as a child decades back in a rural community.
