The Isoko Development Union, IDU, the apex socio-cultural organization of the Isoko nation has felicitated with Mrs. Onome Joy Adewuyi, an indigene of Emevor community, Isoko North Local Government Area, Delta State on her emergence as
President of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN.
This was contained in a statement by the President General of IDU, High Chief Iduh Amadhe and made available to newsmen.
Amadhe described Adewuyi as a consummate and an accomplished accountant and administrator who has brought pride and honour to the Isoko nation.
Amadhe, in the statement said: “We celebrate our daughter Mrs. Onome Joy Adewuyi who hails from Emevor community in Isoko North Local Government Area, Delta State on the the new height she has attained as President of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN.
“The scripture which says :Seest thou a man diligent in his ways; he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men’ resonates her very essence.
“Imbibed with strong, dogged and resolute character as well as firm determination to succeed, Mrs. Onome Joy Adewuyi’s legacies of honesty, integrity and trustworthiness have enabled her to make indelible footprints on the sands of time various sectors such as manufacturing, oil and gas, and banking.
“She has been a member of the Governing Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) since 2007 and sits on the Council. She is also currently the Chair of the Membership Affairs, Staff and Organizing, and Investigation Panel Committees.
“Her previous service with ICAN includes three terms as ICAN’s Treasurer, chairing the ICAN Professional Examinations in 2017 and chairing the IT and Image and Publicity Committees. Mrs. Adewuyi is also a member of the board of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria and was the president of Society of Women Accountants Nigeria, 2013-2015.
“In her illustrious career that spans 35 years, she worked at Fidelity Bank Plc from 1997 to 2015, where she rose to the position of Executive Director Risk Management from 2009-2015. After retiring from that position, she co-founded a new business, Cynergy Platforms Limited in 2015. She is currently the Executive Director Finance and Administration.
“Mrs. Adewuyi also sits on the boards of Law Union and Rock Insurance Plc, Dominion Trust Co limited, and Dominion Finance Limited as non-executive directors.
