The Chairman of Ika South Local Government, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, has congratulated the victorious Ika South team in the just concluded Anioma Unity Football Tournament, after defeating Ukwuani Local Government in the finals played in Asaba.

The Chairman, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Jonathan Onwuka, in a statement, said he was highly elated at the feat of the team and commended the players and their handlers for making the people of Ika South Local Government Area proud.

He said the victory was a beautiful gift to cap 2024, which he noted, had been a remarkable year of numerous achievements for the people and residents of Ika South.

According to Engr. Ehiwarior, “the 3 – 2 victory of our indomitable team over the Ukwuani team, not only showcased the skill and spirit of determination of our boys ably led by Coach Timothy, but also highlights the sports potentials that abound in our environment.”

While expressing pride in the team’s sterling performance, the local government boss maintained that, “this win is a clear testament to the hard work and dedication of our young players and the coaching crew, that has brought victory and also made us all proud “

Engr. Ehiwarior reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the youths in honing their talents and assured that, “we will continue to invest in sports and other developmental programmes and initiatives that empower our young people. Our administration believes in nurturing talents and providing opportunities for growth and development of our people.”

While encouraging the youths of Ika South to remain focused and dedicated to their legitimate pursuits, he added that, “this victory is just the beginning of better things to come for us. I urge our footballers and athletes to keep pushing their limits and continue to strive for excellence. The local government will stand by you every step of the way.

“As we celebrate this great feat, I call on the good people of Ika South to remain supportive of the administration, and also foster an environment where our young ones can thrive in sports and other legitimate endeavours.”
