A member of the Delta state House of Assembly, representing Udu constituency, Hon. Liege-Lord Keston Okoro has been honoured by the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
Hon. Okoro was issued an award of excellence by the Guild’s National Board of trustees as a national Patron to the Guild on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Nelrose Hotel, Asaba.
The epoch making event was attended by various actors, actresses and stakeholders in the entertainment industry.
While presenting the award to Hon. Okoro, the National Vice chairman of the AGN, Mr. Emma Ogugua described the recipient as a philanthropist and friend of the Guild.
Among dignitaries that attended the event was Hon. Ifeanyi Nwador Anyim (aka De General) of Zakus Music and Entertainment, Mr. Ngozi Azaka, Managing Director/CEO, Zakus Music and Entertainment, as well as Muphy Steven of the AGN Board of Trustees and South South DGN Chairman.
Others include Mr. Emeka Ani, Emmanuel Odili, Mr. Barry (Nollywood actor and MD/CEO, Ecstasy Nite Club, Asaba.
To add more flavour to the show, regular artistes from Lagos, Baba Ray and Mimi Fancy performed live to the admiration of the guests.
Meanwhile, an active AGN member in Delta state, Mr. Sylvester Ogbolu (aka Stone), MD Stone Production, formerly declared his intention to contest as chairman of the AGN, Delta Chapter.
Mr. Sylvester Ogbolu assured members of the Guiled of effective leadership if voted into office.
PROFILE OF HON. LIEGE-LORD KESTON OKORO:
Hon. Liege-Lord Keston Okoro was born into the humble family of Late Chief and Mrs Patrick Okoro, both of Aladja Town in Udu local government area in Delta state. His parents were renowned musicians and dancers respectively.
He attended Cavagina Primary School, Warri before proceeding to Ekmopia Secondary Commercial School in Orogun, Ughelli North local government. In his quest for innovation and creativity, Hon. Liege-Lord Keston Okoro went ahead to study Arts and Craftsmanship at Felix Odobo Arts Gallery in the Ancient Benin Kingdom between 1999 and 1994.
He also bagged a Diploma in Law from Delta state University Abraka in 2006, a Higher Technician Diploma in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic, Ibadan in 2006 and a degree in Computer/data Processing Management from the Chartered Institute of Commerce, Nigeria in 2009.
Considering his statesmanship in community development and youth empowerment, his constituents decided to elect him into the Delta state House of Assembly for effective representation of their interests in 2011 under the Democratic Peoples party (DPP).
Before his successful election, he has bagged several awards on peace and community leadership from many groups and associations as well as having served meritoriously in government, Community NGOs and presently, he is the House Committee Chairman on Housing and Transport at the delta state House of Assembly.
He has empowered youths in many parts, through the Liege-Lord Keston Okoro Scholarship Foundation, where scholarship were given to deserving Udu indigenes in all the wards in his Constituency, while 30 per cent of beneficiaries are rural women.
What earned him the honour as National Patron of AGN is the empowerment through his outfit, Mega Hit Entertainment, which engages in hunting and breeding young talents in music, video, movies and theatre (Drama).
