A 42 years old father of three children has been arrested by the Kogi state police command, for allegedly killing and burying his 4-month old son in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government in Kogi State.
The surprising incident was reported to have happened on 31st of December, 2012 with five minutes into the New Year.
Hosea Folorunsho, 42 years old, the father of the four-month old baby was said be caught unawares by neighbours while performing the burial rites of the baby in the front of his house in Egbe.
Findings revealed that following the gory discovery, residents in Egbe quickly reported the man’s ordeal to the Kogi State’s Commissioner of Police for investigations and due punishment.
Hosea is reportedly now being quizzed at the Kogi State Police Command in Lokoja and a police source revealed that he is yet-to-disclosed why he did the very shocking act.
Meanwhile, a police source have confirmed that Mr Hosea Folorunsho carried out the gruesome murder of his son for ritual purpose.
Also, the Kogi state CP, Mohammed Kastina Musa, confirmed that the suspect, a herbalist, buried the child in a shallow grave in his own compound.
While parading the suspect at the state command headquarters in Lokoja Katsina disclosed that on the 31st of December 2012, the herbalist killed his son for alleged ritual.
“On the New Year’s Eve, at about 11:55PM, the suspect quietly took the baby named Sunday Folorunsho who was asleep in the middle of the night and murdered him in gruesome circumstances.
“Having accomplished his mission, the suspect dug a shallow grave in his compound and hurriedly buried the corps of the baby.
The police however escorted Mr Folorunsho to his compound where the baby’s corpse was buried and he was then asked to exhume the corpse.
Digging out the corpse of the baby, he handed over the body to a pathologist who conducted an autopsy on the dead baby.
The autopsy result read that the child died of multiple fractures through the application of blunt object and trauma.
The 48 year old suspect, a native of Egbe in Yagba West Local Government Area (LGA) of the state is married with three other kids.
