The Human Rights Advocate and Societal Justice (HRSJ) has lauded the leadership quality of the Commandant General (CG), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence (NSCDC), Dr Ahmed Audi in the security outfit.
The group gave the commendation in a statement signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Dr Omage Aneta and Doni Biukeme respectively and made available to journalists in Warri.
HRASJ is a non-governmental organisation advocating against injustice and dehumanization in the society.
The group said that the Commandant General deserves commendation and a pat on his back for job well done, adding that his hard work prowess have give the Corps a lift to an enviable standard.
They said that the transformational drive that the NSCDC boss had brought into the security outfit was equal to none in the history of the outfit.
According to them, CG. Audi who is the 3rd substantive NSCDC Commandant General had provided a transformational leadership for the Corps within the period of assumption of office.
The group said that the progress and achievements of the Corps under the Audi leadership had tremendously changed the narrative of the security outfit.
They noted the trend of extraordinary transformation in the Corps under the leadership of CG Audi to include but not limited to improved staff welfare, settlement of backlog of promotions and corresponding arrears of staff, the review of staff Insurance Scheme.
The group listed others to include training and retraining of officers and men, massive arrests and prosecution of thousands of suspects who allegedly engaged in Crude oil theft and vandalism of oil pipelines in the Niger Delta region and other regions of the country, adding, “it’s on record that the moral boost and encouragement he dishes out makes the Delta State Command of the Corps to stand out by going all out in their synergy with Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd (TSSNL)to arrest vessels involved in illegal oil bunkering activities in the Niger Delta region thus boosting oil production per day as well as smashing criminal elements that targets Critical National Assets.”
Others were: the arrests of Railway vandals, foiling of over 48 kidnap attempts of School Students and Teachers, creation of Civil Defence Academy in Jos, Plateau State, Creation of NSCDC Arms Squad Training School at Ugede Development Area, Nassarawa State
Creation of NSCDC Female Squad to aid in tackling kidnapping and other crimes in schools, Introduction of career progression courses for personnel of the NSCDC, increase in the welfare packages of Corps’ personnel, massive acquisition of arms for NSCDC operational use.
Purchase of mini fire fighting tankers for Disaster management, procurement of Armored Personnel Career [APC] vehicles for the NSCDC, destruction of over 350 illegal refineries in the Niger Delta.
Construction of official and residential buildings within and outside the NSCDC Headquarters and procurement of operational and office equipment and among others.
According to the group, “the fertile synergy he encouraged between the NSCDC and the Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) in curtailing crude oil theft in the Niger Delta region is something commendable.
“Beyond this collaboration, it is on record that the NSCDC has made several personal arrest of crude oil theft in the Warri creeks and other parts of the Niger Delta region.
“The Commandant General deserves commendation. The progress and achievements of the Corps under Audi leadership has tremendously changed the narrative and would bring the Corps to its fulfillment in due course if allowed to complete the tenure,” they said.
The group observed that the trend in which the NSCDC had risen from obscurity to become one of the most enviable security outfits under Audi’s leadership was rather worth applauding than condemning.
“We have closely watched with kin interest and observation the trajectory of successes and achievements of the NSCDC in the past years. The overall assessment shown that the NSCDC has grown to become an elite organization of international standard and should be allowed to continue under the present Audi led administration,” the group concluded
