Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has advised newly married couples to make integrity and fear of God their watchword, in order to enjoy abundant blessing, love and fruitfulness in their marriage.
Governor Okowa gave the charge on Saturday, February 27, 2016 during the traditional marriage reception of Mrs. Ogom Ogeah, daughter of the Iyase Asaba, Chief P. I. G OnyeobI at the Iyase Lodge in Asaba, Delta state capital.
The governor was represented by the state Comimissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, who was accompanied by his counerpart at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Nicholas Azinge and Director General, Delta Waste Management Board, Chief Douglas Okolotu.
Governor Okowa congratulated the elder statesman and former Secretary to State Government in the defunct Bendel state, Iyase of Asaba, Chief P. I. G. Onyeobi on the occasion of giving out the hand of her daughter’s in marriage.
Mr. Ukah said: “We are here to congratulate you as an elder statesman on this occasion by giving your daughter’s hand in marriage.”
He promised that the state government will not relent in bringing prosperity to the doorsteps of all Deltans by meeting its desired target enshrined in the SMART agenda of the Okowa led administration.
While presenting a gift to the couple on behalf of the state Governor at the epoch making event, Mr. Ukah advised the newly married coupless, saying that “Our prayer is that God will bless the marriage and they will multiply in the marriage.
“My advise is that they mst emulate their father so that they can move on in life. As a former SSG in the defunct Bendel state, he has done well and he has integrity. He has lived a fulfilled life as an elder statesman.
“We pray that they wil love God beter than their father did. Our prayer for them is that they will live long and their marriage will be fruitful.”
Chairman of the occasion, Chief Halim who commended the Iyase of Asaba, Chief P. I. G Onyeobi for giving her daughter out in marriage, said the marriage would witness God’s abundant blessing.
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries including former Military Administrator of Delta state, Gen. Jeremiah Useni; former Deputy Governor, Sir Benjamin Elue, former Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly and member representing Oshimili South Constituency, -Hon. Peter Onwusanya; Chief Clement Ofuani, Chairman of Asaba Capital Development Authority; former Permanent Secretary and governorship aspirant, Mr. Tony Obuh; Head of Service of Delta state, Mr. Patrick Origho; President of University of Ibadan Alumni Association, Dr. Kemi Emina; traditional chiefs from the Benin Kingdom, among others.
