THE All Progress Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency, Hon. Eugene Okolocha has called on the Federal Government to include Ndokwa in the Gas City Project.
Hon. Okolocha said the call was necessary bearing in mind that Ndokwa plays host to the largest gas plant in the sub-sahara Africa and the proposed Gas City Project would rely a lot from gas supply from Ndokwa land.
The former Delta State law maker made the call at Kwale while speaking at a debate for candidates for House of Representatives in Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency organized by the Ndoka Arise, a political pressure group in the area in collaboration with a media outfit, Ndokwa Reporters.
According to Hon. Okolocha, “the Gas City project is a good project but, why would the Federal Government push Ndokwa people to the back ground, and those who have no gas in their domain are fighting over who should host the Gas City project.”
He emphasized that if elected as member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, he would provide the needed voice for the people, asserting, “our people have suffered neglect for a long time because of no say, and we are going to be talking, dialoguing and ensure that our people are not shortchanged again.”
The first Minority Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the debate, and urged the people of Ndokwa to always stand up for their right.
“Democracy has provided avenue for us to express ourselves, we should utilize the window of opportunities provided by democracy and make the best decision for ourselves and the future generation, we should look at the pedigree of those who wants to lead us and make sure we vote right,” he said.
