The people of Uzere community in Isoko local government area of Delta State at the weekend celebrated the return of Pa Ogor Amadhe the oldest man (Odio-Orere ) of Uzere community who left his home due to the 2019 flood that ravaged the community for three months.
Members of the community came out in their numbers to celebrate the oldest man who is also the Odio-Orere of Uzere community.
The event was put together for Pa Ogor Amadhe by his son High Chief Iduh Amadhe, the President General of Isoko Development Union (IDU).
Speaking during the welcome back ceremony that was attended by Isoko sons and daughters and friends of indefatigable president general of Isoko Nation, High Chief Iduh Amadhe, said, “I am very happy that my father the oldest man and the Odio-Orere is back home hale and hearty after leaving Uzere for almost three months as a result of the flood”.
He maintained that, ” Tradition demands that the Odio-Orere who is the oldest man of the community must stay in the community but due to the flood that ravaged the community he left the community to take refuge in another community”.
“You cannot be outside the community and claim to be Odio-Orere of Uzere community, hence my father said he has overstayed been outside the community now that the flood is over, there is need for him to return home” he said.
Amadhe noted that, since the history of Uzere community, this is the first time the community is experiencing the receding of the flood in November and December respectively.
The highlights of the event was Masquerade dance, cultural dance by the women of Uzere and other communities of Isoko Nation.

Ferguson Onwo member Representing Isoko South Constituency 1, Delta State House of Assembly and Hon. Oviemuno Oghoore, Commissioner for Transport Delta State.
