THE Delta State Government has assured members of the State House of Assembly that it will continue to maintain a robust relationship between the Executive and Legislative arms of government.
The Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG), Chief Patrick Ukah, made this known when he played host to the Chairman and members of the House Committee on Establishment, Ethics and Privileges in his office in Asaba.
Chief Ukah noted that the synergy between the Legislative and Executive arms of government is a prerequisite for achieving the set goals and objectives of the Stronger Delta agenda of the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.
He said that visit to the office of the Secretary to the State Government today, shows their humility and maturity in fostering the Executive and Legislative harmony that we have enjoyed in the state.
Earlier, the Chairman of the committee, Hon. Innocent Anidi, said they were in the office of the SSG to felicitate with him on his appointment and also to give the committee members the opportunity to familiarize itself with the workings of the SSG’s office.
Hon. Anidi commended the SSG as he acknowledged that his appointment as SSG was merited following his excellent performance while he was Commissioner for Information and Basic and Secondary Education respectively.
The Vice Chairman of the committee, Hon. Tony Elekeokwuri, used the opportunity to clear the air on the social media report indicting the office of the SSG.
“I want to state categorically that the House of Assembly is not investigating the office of the SSG, the past or even the present. We have not done it and I don’t think there is any reason to do it.”
“We have been able to clear all observations and queries, and I know that we have done a very good job”, he said.
Other members of the committee who spoke paid glowing tributes to the SSG and said that it was a well deserved appointment.
