450 International Experts Discuss Challenges and Opportunities For Development From Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates:— The 4th International Conference on Future Mobility (ICFM) will be held in Abu Dhabi this Tuesday, featuring a world-class team of experts in the automotive industry and technologies, which is expected to reach 450 experts and professionals representing more than 175 government and private institutions from 18 countries.
The conference and its accompanying exhibition is organized by the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) in cooperation with the Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi under the patronage of His Excellency Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of ESMA, at the St. Regis Hotel & Resort Saadiyat Island on the 7 and 8 November.
The conference and exhibition will discuss the challenges and opportunities in this promising sector, while Artificial intelligence in the automotive industry and sustainable transport infrastructure forms the latest developments in the fourth edition of the conference, under the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Future Mobility.”
H.E. Al Maeeni said, “The automotive and transport sector faces a future that may radically differ from its present and past, especially as there are many trends and innovations ranging from decentralization of energy, the Internet of things and artificial intelligence, and they are converging together to radically transform the global transport ecosystem.”
He pointed out that the digital and technical revolution in the vehicle sector, such as self-driving and artificial intelligence, has the ability to fully transform the mobility system: “we in ESMA realize that the real potential of these technologies cannot be fully realized until the legislative and technical basis is prepared. At ESMA, we contribute to achieving this vision through the development of regulatory frameworks and infrastructure of technical legislation and standard specifications required.”
H.E. Abdulla Abdulqader Al Maeeni, Director General, said: “The acquisition of practical experience from these new systems will allow our government to keep abreast of these technological developments. We work closely with manufacturers and regulators around the world, closely follow the developments in this sector, and consistently seek to develop a regulatory framework and standards consistent with global legislation.
He continued: “The transformation of the country’s mobility sector and the rapid adoption of green, smart and self-driving transport systems and mechanisms have been part of the agendas and vision of government agencies that have launched a series of initiatives and plans to realize the vision of making the UAE a global capital for the future, including Abu Dhabi Transportation Mobility Management Strategy, the Surface Transport Master Plan – Abu Dhabi, and the Dubai Autonomous Transportation Strategy.”
On the sidelines of the conference, the exhibition will showcase the latest technology, which is the icon of the future of mobility. Government agencies, automotive manufacturers and infrastructure suppliers will showcase their initiatives, products and innovative solutions in intelligent and connected mobility and environmentally friendly vehicles.

The list of government partners for this annual summit includes the UAE Insurance Authority, the Supreme Energy Council of Dubai and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority. The UAE Automobile and Tourism Club (ATCUAE) is a strategic partner and Emirates Transport as a joint partner.
