Delta State Government says the ongoing Federal Government electrification projects for the Escravos and environs communities has reached an impressive stage.
Recall that the Federal Government had approved $64 million for power supply to Escravos communities in Delta State.
Deputy Governor of Delta State, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro disclosed after playing host to staff of NNPC, Nigeria Gas Company, the contracting firm handling the project and representatives of host communities said the deliberations was very fruitful.
He noted that even though, there were challenges along the line, he believed in no time the projects will come on stream for the satisfaction of all Deltans whom it is meant to serve.
He however appealed for the cooperation of host communities to enable the contracting firms do their jobs unhindered so that they can deliver on time.
According to him, “Few years back, the federal government with NNPC and Nigeria Gas Company agreed to site the Escravos and Environs Electrification Projects and it has been on the pipeline. We just had this meeting to expedite action.
“In the meeting, we tried to cross the t’s and dot the i’s in ensuring that the projects we are embarking upon are completed on specified time. This is to light up the entire Escravos and environs which will have a multiplier effect on the people. We are indeed very happy with the outcome of today’s meeting.”
This is coming on the heels of assurances by the representative of income Extrix, Mr Matthew Edevwie, an expert on electricity project that the project will be completed in 18 months before the agreed period.
Also, the Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Delta State, Hon. Prince Emmanuel Amgbaduba, expressed hope that the project would be completed on record time.
Some of the representatives of the host communities commended the federal government for the projects assuring that they would provide security before and after the projects since they are the immediate beneficiaries.
