Living up to his promises to rebrand the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), the Managing Director/CEO of the Commission, Bashorun Askia Ogieh (FCNA,CrFA), led the Executive Directors and Board Members to the commissioning of some mega projects in parts of the state.
The projects include Re-Constructed Six classrooms block with offices allocated and well furnished at Owholomu Primary School, Olomoro, Isoko South LGA.
The DESOPADEC boss also leading his team, commissioned ENURU Street (Isoko Standard Road) close to Yanga market, Oleh, Isoko South LGA.
During the commissioning, Bashorun Askia appealed to the people to jealously guard the projects executed by the Commission, adding that DESOPADEC under his watch would ensure that communities within the mandate area of the Commission are not left out in the development agenda of DESOPADEC.
He noted that the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa led administration, through its Stronger Delta agenda is poised to fast rack development across the state, especially in the areas of infrastructure and human capital growth.
According to him, “For the school, having completed the project, we discovered that there are no furniture for the teachers and pupils, hence we decided to supply the school with the needed furniture.”
On road project, the DESOPADEC Project Director, said: “The road is a 350meters with covert and it connects Yanga and Irri communities.
“The road was awarded through the efforts of the DESOPADEC executives and today it is ready for use. We commend the contractor for embarking on a wonderful job.”
Meanwhile, the benefitting communities expressed delight in the renewed efforts in the activities of the intervention agency, saying that the commissioning exercise is an indication that they would not be left out in the delivery of dividends to oil producing communities in the oil and gas wealthy Delta state.
The MD/CEO Bashorun Askia Ogieh was accompanied by the Executive Director EDFA, Barr. John Nani, Executive Director Projects ,Hon Daniel Mayiku, Commissioner Representing Isoko Ethnic Nationality in DESOPADEC, Dr Barr. Paul Oweh and HODs of various Departments as well as DG Hope Alive, Chief Obaro Godspower during the commissioning ceremony.
The President General of Isoko Development Union (IDU), High Chief Iduh Amadhe, member representing Isoko South Constituency 1 in the Delta state House of Assembly, Hon. Kenneth Ogba, President General Oleh Community and other notable personalities were on ground to welcome the DESOPADEC team.
