The people of Emonu-Orogun community, in Ughelli North local government area of Delta State have expressed gratitude to the State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) for the provision of basic amenities in the community.
The commendation came on the heels of the commissioning of two (2) blocks of six classrooms, a Library, Headmaster/Headmistress’ office with adjoining toilets, and additional four (4) toilets for staff and pupils of Emonu Primary School, a project executed by DESOPADEC.
The President-General of Emonu Development Union (EDU), Hon. Chief Henry Itedjere, on behalf of Emonu-Orogun people, thanked the State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the Managing Director/CEO of DESOPADEC, Bashorun Askia Ogieh, the Executive Directors and member representing Ughelli North, Ethiope East and Urhobos in Patani local government area, Olorogun Kent Okiemute, for attracting the projects.
The Head Teacher of Emonu Primary School, Mrs Emuedo Regina; the treasurer of Emonu Development Union, Hon Efetobor Innocent and another member of the community, Chief Austin Oghenesiowho were all elated, thanking the State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and DESOPADEC Board for coming to the rescue of the community, especially the pupils of the school.
The Managing Director/CEO of DESOPADEC, Bashorun Askia Ogieh, had on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, commissioned the projects, with a promise to include the provision of a 500 KVA transformer and equipping of the Library in the Commission’s next budget.
He enjoined the people of the community to make effective use of the projects and secure them, saying that DESOPADEC is determined to fulfil all obligations to it’s mandate areas by providing basic amenities in the school to enhance teaching and learning.
Meanwhile, the Executive Director Projects, on the Board of DESOPADEC, Hon. Daniel Mayuku revealed that the helmsman of the Commission has also approved the provision of 150 chairs and desks for the school, just as the Board member representing Ughelli North, Ethiope East and Urhobos in Patani local government area, Okakuro Kent Okiemute, commended Bashorun Askia Ogieh and the Executive Directors for their support in the project execution.
Also present at the ceremony were the Executive Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Com. Amb. Shedrack Agediga; CSO, Chief Lawrence Eduje; Director of Housing, QS William Oyimi; Head of Media and Public Affairs, Mrs Chinenye Ezonfade and a host of others.
