NATIONAL President of University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA), Dr Kemi Emina has challenged members of Alumni Associations to contribute positively to the development of their alma mater.
Dr Emina who was speaking after his election as the National President of UIAA said his emergence as an alumni president signals a new dawn for the University of Ibadan and urged all the members of the alumni association to contribute towards the growth of the University.
“We are proud to have passed through the University of Ibadan and I thank the alumni association for finding me worthy to pilot the affairs of this great association, this is a new dawn for the University of Ibadan and by the grace of God and the cooperation of lovers of education, the University of Ibadan will not only witness positive developments but the Nigerian education environment, especially, the University system will witness positive changes,” Dr Emina who is the Special Adviser to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly on Research and Documentations said.
The former lecturer of the Delta State University, Abraka who worked for years as a Journalist in The Pointer Newspaper’s stable polled 83 votes as against his opponent’s seventy three votes to emerge victorious during the 23rd National Election Congress of UIAA held at the University of Ibadan.
Dr Emina who was sponsored by the Asaba Chapter of the association and served as a national ex-officious member of the association, took over the mantle of leadership from Dr Nathaniel Merenu.
Dr. Adeniyi Adedoyin, Dr Uche Uzokwe and Pastor Mike Ejikeme were elected as 1st, 2nd and 3rd National Vice Presidents respectively, while Mr Samuel Obinyan emerged as the national secretary of the association and Mr Okezie Agbugba (1st Assistant National Secretary), Mr Olumoyegun Temidire (2nd Assistant National Secretary), Dr Elsie Adewoye (National Treasurer), Mr Joseph Akaanam (National Financial Secretary) and Chief Solomon Egwuenu (National Publicity Secretary).Also, Mr M.A. Bello was elected as National Socials Secretary, Barr. R.A. Eyinade, National Legal Adviser, while Engr. Abiola Ogunjobi and Chief (Sir) Francis Odion as National Ex-Officio members.
