The Chairman of Ika South Local Government, Engr. Jerry Ehiwario, has inaugurated the legislative arm of the local government with a call on the councillors to ensure inclusive representation.

Ehiwario, at the recent inauguration of the councillors in Agbor, said they must play down partisan political inclinations in their official duties as law makers at that tier of government in order to effectively serve their constituents.

His words, ” though you are members of political parties,I appeal that you should, as much as possible, ensure that all the constituents in your respective wards are factored into your activities. You are the closest channel for information flow. For maximum effect, efforts must be made to play down partisan leanings in this regard.”

The Chairman urged them to always reflect the wishes and aspirations of their constituents and to defer to the overriding imperative for sustainable peace and security by their conduct .

While pledging to actively promote cooperation with the legislative arm of government at the tier, Ehiwario reminded them that peace and security for which they must all work to promote was mandatory for the enduring development of the local government area.

He said, ” as the arm of government with the task of making laws, you must ensure that the laws you make will foster development, unity and peaceful coexistence throughout the length and breadth of the local government area.”

He reminded them that, as representatives of the 20 state wards in the local government area, they must remain close to the people they represent and defer to the virtue of demonstrable capacity in their choice of principal officers.
