CHAIRMAN of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Delta State Council, Comrade (Chief) Ifeanyi Obi has pledged unalloyed support to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan administration, urging Deltans to rally round him in his to successful governance.
Comrade Obi who was speaking in Asaba, described Governor Uduaghan as a good leader who is working with the interest of the people at heart, reiterating that to enable him succeed, the people of the state should support and pray for him.
“We need to pray for our Governor, he is doing very well in every part of the state and for us at the National Union of Road Transport Workers, we are happy with him, he has helped us a lot and we shall continue to support his administration.”
He used the opportunity to urge members of the Union to remain law abiding and shun any action that is capable of causing the breach of peace.
“Our members are carrying out their duties peacefully, but, we have observed that there are also, few of them that are not working genuinely in the interest of our Union, we have asked them to retrace their steps and ensure that they are not engaged in any negative action because, we are not going to protect any of our members who flouts the law,” Chief Obi said.
Comrade Obi disclosed that as an individual and the chairman of the NURTW, some persons have tried to blackmail him, stating, “some people have circulated text messages that is not favourable using my name, some have done certain things that are not also too good using my name but that is the burden of leadership, we are entrenching a new union where the members believes in the rule of law and obeys the constitution, it is not easy, but we thank God that we are succeeding.”
He said Governor Uduaghan has good programmes for the people of the state, stating, “our Governor has done a lot for us, all that we need to do is to be patient and pray for him to always succeed.”
