The President General of Oleh kingdom, Isoko South local government area, Chief Believe Alakri, has commended the United Leadership of Oleh kingdom for presenting over N4 million worth of food items to Oleh community to cushion the effects of lockdown on COVID 19 pandemic, just as residents obeyed the Easter Sunday service stay at home restriction order.
Chief Alakri who received 400 bags of rice and 50 bags of salt on behalf of Oleh community said, the food items have been distributed and residents showed gratitude and commended the group for the gesture.
The president general urged the group not to relent in further measures towards alleviating hunger and hardship occasioned by COVID 19 pandemic He noted that the community is overwhelmed with the food items received and have mitigated the present situation in the area.
Chief Alakri urged residents of Oleh kingdom to observe the social distancing, regular washing of hands and avoid shaking of hands. He reiterated that public gathering activities should be avoided and adhere strictly to the stay at home order by the state Governor Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.
He commended the residents of the area for obeying the Easter Sunday service restriction order even as he urged them to stay safe from contracting the dreaded Coronavirus ravaging the world and Nigeria.
Alakri maintained that Oleh community is presently free from the pandemic and urged the people to remain healthy by observing all the precautionary measures recommended.
A visit round the metropolis revealed that churches were closed and the streets and roads were empty as residents stayed from Easter church service in compliance to the stay at home order. The makeshift markets in the environs were also with lock and key.
At the popular Oleh Yanga market junction, the vigilante stationed their vehicle and blocked the roads to curtail unnecessary movement of Okada and vehicles.
Recall that a social cultural group known as United Leadership of Oleh kingdom presented food items worth over 4 million Naira, that has been distribution to residents of the area for both indigenes and non indigenes to support Governor Okowa food bank initiative, to cushion the sufferings occasioned by COVID 19 lockdown in the area.
