Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has expressed deep shock over the death of the immediate past Secretary of the Delta State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ), Comrade Gomo Oyibokuku Oyiborhoro.
Okowa, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Charles Aniagwu , said the gap created by Oyiborhoro’s demise would be difficult to fill.
He described his eternal exit as an irreparable loss to the journalism profession especially in Delta state and the country in general.
Recalling the professional career of Comrade Gomo Oyiborhoro, as the Assistant General Manager (Editorial), Delta Printing and Publishing Company Limited, Publisher of the Pointer Newspapers, Okowa said, “his achievement in the journalism profession would remain alive for ever.”
He prayed for the eternal peace of the soul of the deceased and conveyed his deep sympathy to his bereaved family members and members of NUJ, as they have lost an intelligent journalist.
“I have learnt with deep shock the untimely death of Comrade Gomo Oyiborhoro, who until his death on Friday, September 4, 2015 at the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, was an Assistant General Manager (Editorial), Delta Printing and Publishing Company Limited, Publisher of the Pointer Newspapers.
“I therefore join all Deltans in expressing condolences to the bereaved family, NUJ, the management and staff of the Pointer Newspaper and the entire media fraternity for the loss of a journalist par excellence.
“He will be missed for his charm, his courage, his zeal, his skills and his willingness to share his ideas with all.
“May the Almighty Lord sustain the bereaved family during this difficult time, and may his soul rest in eternal peace.”
