The President of Christ the King College (CKC) Onitsha, Lagos branch, Barrister George Onwubuya has hailed the presidential flag-bearer of  the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, for nominating the former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi as his running mate in next year’s general election.

In a statement issued in Lagos, Barr. Onwubuya said the nomination has created positive aura around the candidature of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar which is seen as a well-articulated move to put Nigeria back on the path of growth and development.

Obi is  an alumnus of CKC, Onitsha who left an indelible record of prudent management of human and material resources in his eight years of  governance of Anambra state.  His performance has remained a benchmark of effective and efficient leadership in the annals of Nigeria’s political history.

Onwubuya described  Obi is “an accomplished banker and financial manager whose prudence in the management of labour and public funds is yet to be equaled”.

According to him, “Mr. Obi restored the dignity of Anambra people by the record of quality leadership he left in the state, which should be replicated at the national level for Nigeria to attain the enviable height that we desire”.

He said Mr. Obi is a “great asset to Alhaji Atiku in handling the economy as he was a key member of the Goodluck Jonathan’s team which managed Nigeria’s rebased economy when it was confirmed the largest in Africa.”

He noted that Obi “is a product an academic training that placed emphasis on discipline of character, moral rectitude and knowledge which is the guideline of all alumni of the College; we are proud of him and we have no doubt that he all excel, if his party wins.”

Another prominent alumnus, Hugo Odiogor Senior Prefect Class of 81 said, “After following his performance as the Governor of Anambra state, ” I believe that he will be the best person to fix Nigeria, mainly because of his penchant  for prudent management of resources which underlies his integrity, fear of God and belief in the Rule of Law”,

He said “I also believe that if Nigerian youth set aside religious bigotry and tribal sentiments to focus on who will provide food on their table,  create jobs to enhance their capacity to live quality life, Peter Obi is the man they need to support”.

The former President of Aka Ikenga, Chief Goddy Uwazurike said the selection of Mr. Peter Obi as the running mate to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is a worthy choice

He said, “I have read with disgust the vituperations of the enemies of this country on the choice of Peter Obi as the running mate of the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. The complaints range from non-consultation to why the choice should be from the South East to the ridiculous protest of non-PDP members.”

“For the avoidance of doubt, very few people parade the intimidating credentials of Peter Obi. Again, very few people parade the integrity of Peter Obi. Furthermore, very few people parade the common sense economics of Peter Obi. Finally, very few people parade the ability of Peter Obi to overlook personal aggrandizement in public and private life.

“For those who wish Nigeria well, Peter Obi will bring a lot of good to the economic revival of this country. For those who are angry that they were not consulted, Atiku owes that duty to his party, not the South-East governors forum made up of other non-PDP group. For those who see Peter Obi as not likely to play ball, I say ‘good for you. He is not the run of the mill politician. Let’s keep Peter Obi the way he is’.”
