Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, has been reportedly been rushed to the Government State House Clinic, Ekiti State, for treatment after fainting.
Fayose was alleged to have fainted when policemen stationed around the State House to ensure security fired teargas and shot into the air to disperse a crowd said to be trying to gain entrance.
The action of the police was said to have caused pandemonium leaving some people injured.
Fayose’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, confirmed the attack on his Twitter handle, describing it as an assassination attempt.
He said the governor was hit by teargas canister fired by the policemen.
According to him, the governor was already receiving treatment at the Government House State Clinic.
His tweets read: “Governor Fayose, a few minutes ago escaped plot to assassinate him by Fayemi and his APC. He is currently receiving treatment at the Government House Clinic after he was hit by teargas canister fired by the policemen.
“The armed policemen are still laying siege to the Government House.”
