Senator Atai Aidoko representing Kogi East in the National Assembly has been sacked by a Federal High Court in Abuja.
The court declared in its verdict that Aidoko was wrongly presented by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as its candidate after the primaries held in December 2014.
Isaac Alfa had challenged the election of Aidoko’s election, claiming it was wrong.
In the course of the legal battle, an appeal court ordered the two parties in the case to go back to the trial court to determine whether or not Aidoko deserved to represent the people of Kogi East in the National Assembly.
The seat was therefore expected to remain vacant.
But Aidoko continued to attend the Senate, representing his senatorial district.
In its verdict on Wednesday, the Federal High Court presided over by Gabriel Kolawole, after sacking Aidoko, ordered him and the PDP to pay the sum of N750,000 each to Alfa.
