Deltans from oil producing communities, comprising Urhobo, Ijaw, Itsekiri, Isoko and Ndokwa ethnic nationalities, have expressed satisfaction over the appointment of the new Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) by Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.
The host communities, in their numerous statements of appreciations, particularly praised Governor Okowa on the appointment of Bashorun (Hon) Askia Ogieh FCNA, CrFA as the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer, after having served meritoriously as the Executive Director of Finance and Administration at DESOPADEC and ensured enduring development policies in the mandate oil bearing communities in the state.
Meanwhile, Bashorun Askia, who was on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 screened and confirmed by the Delta State House of Assembly as the MD/CEO of DESOPADEC, expressed immense appreciation to His Excellency the Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa for his consistent commitment to the development of the DESOPADEC mandate areas.
“In the face of economic challenges, the Governor has continued to fund the activities of the Commission. We (Deltans) are lucky to have Okowa as Governor. We are lucky to have a Man who understands the dynamic of the political, economic and social life of contemporary Deltans and has successfully managed the resources accruing to the State.”
While commending Governor Okowa for his zeal and commitment towards building a Stronger Delta state, Bashorun Askia assured that the team of DESOPADEC Board presently put together by the Governor is competent and determined to ensure that the Commission sustains the prudent financial management of resources and execution of people oriented projects in the DESOPADEC mandate areas of the state.
