The Commissioner for Trade, Market and Wealth Creation, Dr. Christian Madubuko, says the state is losing over six billion naira to revenue extortioners yearly.
Dr. Mmadubuko, disclosed this in Awka when his men apprehended some illegal revenue collectors at Afor-Igwe Market Umudioka, Dunukofia Council Area.
The Commissioner who decried the ugly activities of illegal revenue collectors despite warnings from the government, said through internal generated revenue, government will continue improve the lives of the citizenry .
He said that the present administration has sensitized some stakeholders on the dangers of illegal collectors but alleged that some Presidents General of communities were deeply involved in sending their boys to markets for revenue drive without remitting same to the government.
Dr. Madubuko stated that it will no longer be business as usual stressing that those apprehended will be dealt with to serve as deterrent to others.
The Commissioner maintained that his Ministry this year, will expand and develop markets, increase IGR to the best of their ability even as he said, they will relate cordially with Ndi Anambra in such a way that the traders will be happy with the present administration.
Dr Mmadubuko stated that more measures would be put in place to discourage diversion of revenue urging traders to be alive to their responsibilities.
