Abia State has recorded another feat in the education sector. Recently in far away United States of America, three Abians came tops in their academic pursuit as they were among the four best graduating students at Dillard University.
The three students who were awarded Summa Cum Laude in their respective disciplines by Dillard University include: Victor Ogburie (Computer Major with minors in Physics and Mathematics), Stephen Ogidi Igwe (Biology Major) and Emole Anya Dimgba.
The forth student Merrilyn Akpapuna who hails from Delta State was also awarded Summa Cum Laude by the university.
Meanwhile, Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji, has congratulated the trio for making the state proud through their excellent academic brilliance.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Charles Ajunwa, Governor Orji said his government would continue to make education a priority in the entire state.
The governor who charged the youths of the state to take their education seriously, said he was happy with the performance of Abian students within and outside the country.
“It’s now clear to all that Abia is destined to be great. The high performance of our students in the primary, secondary and tertiary levels in recent times has given me hope that we are doing the right things as regards education in the state. As a government, we will continue to invest heavily in the education of our children as that is the only way our future can be guaranteed. If we give our children sound education, they will automatically become great assets to Abia State in particular and Nigeria in general. Government can not achieve this alone without the support and cooperation of parents who should see reason why they should send their children to school. “
