A COMMUNIQUE BY THE CHAIRMEN OF POLITICAL PARTIES ON THE DELTA CENTRAL SENATORIAL BYE-ELECTION OF 12TH OCTOBER 2013
Following the conclusion of the Delta Central Senatorial Bye-Elections of the 12th October 2013, we the Chairmen of all registered Political parties in the state called an emergency meeting today 16th October 2013 to discuss amongst other things the conduct of the elections.
Arising from the meeting we the committee of Chairmen of Political parties do hereby resolve that:
i. We commend INEC for the conduct of a transparent, free and fair election in which the PDP candidate, Chief (Hon) Emmanuel Edesiri Aguariavwodo polled a total 263, 024 (Two Hundred and Sixty-Three Thousand, and Twenty-Four) votes to emerge the winner of the Senatorial seat.
Other party results were as follows:
APC –Chief O’tega Emerhor 29, 075 votes
DPP –Chief Ede Dafinone – 29, 005

LP –Barr. Andy Osawota – 1, 602 ”
ii. We also commend the security agencies; The Nigeria Police
force, State Security Service (SSS), The Nigeria Civil Defence Corp’ and the military for what they called the maintenance of security law and order before, during and after the election.
iii. We thank and commend the political parties and their members for their support in complementing the security agencies by creating a peaceful and enabling environment for voting to take place. We specially thank the Political parties that participated, and their agents; Advanced Congress of Democrats (ACD), Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), All Progressive Congress (APC), All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Democratic Peoples Party (DPP), Labour Party (LP), Kowa Party (KP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for ensuring a successful conclusion of the elections.
iv. We also commend the observers, both local and international specially the INEC/USAID election monitorswho were on ground to record actual proceedings and report accordingly.
v. We commend the Delta Central electorate who by their exemplary conduct has shown to the world how credible elections can be conducted.
vi. On the strength of the above, we hereby call on all parties to this election to unconditionally accept the results as stated above and already announced by INEC.
vii. Finally, we wish to thank His Excellenct the Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan for what they described as “his role in ensuring a safe conduct of the most transparent, free and fair election in our recent history.
