Honourable Arinzechukwu Awogu has emerged winner of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) party primary election for Ogbaru Federal House of Representatives.
The aspirant who was former Transition Council Chairman of Ogbaru Local Government Area, Anambra State
pulled a total vote of 34 against Hon. Chris Onyedika Nwokedi who gannered 14 votes.
The election which held at Central School Odoekpe in Ogbaru Local Government Area was monitored by security operatives comprising Nigeria Navy, Nigeria Police force and virtually drew all APGA members.
Prior to the accreditation of delegates, a gang believed to be political thugs attempted to disrupt the election but for the intervention of security operatives who chased them out of the election venue to pave way for the conduct of the election.
Caretaker dissolved for fresh election
Minutes before the primary, the returning officer, Hon. Tony Omeligwe Elee reminded party faithfuls that “APGA has been a family, it would be unfair for a group to scuttle the election.”
He assured them that the election would be conducted in a transparent manner, adding that whoever is not satisfied with the outcome is at liberty to channel his grievances to APGA Secretariat Awka instead of fermenting trouble.
In appreciation, Hon. Awogu commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise and also eulogized the delegates and representatives of INEC as well as security agencies for exhibiting high high level of professionalism during the exercise.
