AHEAD the 2015 general elections, Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has warned politicians against defacing the environment with posters and billboards.
Governor Uduaghan declared that his administration will not waver in its commitment towards having a clean Delta State and as such any political office seeker who indiscriminately paste posters and mount billboards will be prosecuted.
Uduaghan, who handed down the warning at a thanksgiving service to mark the 27th coronation anniversary of the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse II (CON), on Sunday stressed that issues concerning the cleanliness of the environment must be properly regulated.
“We are also looking at those who deface our environment with posters and billboards, we shall soon start prosecuting those who deface our public places with posters,” the Governor said, adding, “you don’t win election with posters, if you are popular, you don’t even need posters to win in an election”, he said.
While reiterating the determination of the state government to ride Warri and its environs of filth, he said, “in short, every part of Delta State must be clean because a dirty environment reflects a dirty home”.
The Governor urged those who were negatively affected by the removal of illegal structures to accept it in good faith and see their fortune as sacrifice towards having a better Delta State where things are done right.
Uduaghan congratulated the Olu on his 27 years on the throne, assuring that Itsekiri people will continue to live in peace with their neighbours and remain in the mainstream politics of the country.
