AHEAD of the 2015 gubernatorial elections in Delta State, Chief Godwill Obielum has been urged to contest for the position of governor as he has the intelligence, charisma and boldness to lead Deltans after Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s meritorious governance of the oil-rich state.
This was part of the resolution reached at a meeting of a new political pressure group, the Delta Progressive Movement (DPM) at a meeting held at the Ogwashi-Uku Town Hall, Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government
Area of Delta State.
Those who spoke at the meeting which witnessed an impressive turn-out of people from across the state, said Chief Obielum is also large-hearted and has the ability to carry everybody along as a democrat.
Hon. Joseph Modeme who is the coordinator of the DPM in the area, stated that the organization is made up of the progressive-minded individuals who are committed to having a progressive state, asserting, “all members of the DPM are members of the PDP and we are begging Chief Godwill Obielum to come out and contest for the Governorship election of our state, we are going to set up structures in all the Wards and all the communities and villages in the state, we want every family to sing one song; Obielum For Governor 2015 and we believe that Chief Obielum will have no option than to contest for the position.”
The PDP stalwart, noted that Deltans have seen qualities in Chief Obielum that have surpassed other aspirants for the governorship position, stating, “he is bold, he is intelligent, he is experienced, he is not a tribalist and he will be acceptable to every Deltan.”
“We know him too well, he has a good heart, he loves Delta State and has vision for Delta State which we want him to actualize by ensuring that he becomes our Governor in 2015,” Hon. Modeme stated.
He emphasized that every Deltans should support Chief Obielum for him to emerge as Governor in 2015 because he will attract a lot of development and bring his wealth of experience to governance.
Also speaking, Prince Possy Anigala, said, “I see sterling qualities in Chief Godwill Obielum, he is a leader who will carry people along and work for the good of Delta State, we are happy to be working for him and we pray that he listens to the voice of all Deltans and come out and contest for the governorship election.”
Others who spoke at the occasion included Mr Sylvester Okoni and Mrs Patricia Okolugbo who also emphasized that it is the turn of Delta North to produce the next Governor of Delta State.
She urged every Deltan to work for the emergence of Chief Godwill Obielum as Governor, saying that Chief Obielum is a good administrator who has the wealth of experience to ensure that Delta State remains the envy of all Nigerians.
